About Froliko
Table linen, made to be used
We make a short range of washed-linen napkins, placemats and tablecloths in a handful of colours. Everything is designed around one detail — a bound contrast edge — and everything is meant to go in the machine on Monday.
What we make
Froliko is a small range on purpose. Two collections, four product types, eight colours. Everyday is straight-edged. Scallop is cut with a curved outline and bound by hand, which is why there is less of it.
We would rather get a dozen things right than list a hundred. If a colour isn't on the site, we haven't made it yet.
The edge is the design
Every piece carries a one-centimetre contrast border bound onto the cloth, and a hand-run stitch line set one centimetre inside it. That is the whole idea. It is what stops a plain napkin from reading as plain, and it is what makes a chalk napkin with a cherry edge look considered next to a plate.
It also does something practical. A bound edge is a finished edge — it doesn't fray along the hem the way a single-turned one does after thirty washes.
The linen
Washed before it ships
Linen out of the loom is stiff. Ours is washed down before it reaches you, so it arrives soft and doesn't shrink its way into a different size after the first wash.
Made to a specification
Napkins 45 × 45 cm. Rectangular placemats 33 × 48 cm. Scalloped rounds 38 cm across. Round cloth 180 cm, rectangular cloth 150 × 250 cm.
It creases. That's linen.
We are not going to tell you it stays flat. It softens and creases and looks better for it. If you want it crisp, press it damp.
How we work
Froliko designs the range and specifies it; the pieces are produced to that specification by a manufacturing partner we work with directly. We are not a mill and we don't pretend to be one. What we control is the design, the colourways, the measurements and the quality standard each batch has to meet before it ships.
